2025 Astrology Forecast: At the Threshold
Share
2025 invites us to stand at the edge of transformation, peering into a vast unknown.
This year carries the energy of a portal, an initiation into powerful change, where cosmic movements suggest both collective shifts and deeply personal reflection. With major outer planet sign changes on the horizon, accompanied by retrogrades, we are poised between the old and the new, invited into a journey of shadow work, re-evaluation, and courageous self-discovery.
Let's dive in...
Pluto in Aquarius: Collective Awakening and Shadow Work
As Pluto anchors itself in Aquarius, we feel the stirrings of collective change, asking us to reckon with power structures and the unseen forces shaping society. Pluto in Aquarius draws us into themes of technology, collective identity, and societal innovation, yet its influence is far from abstract. This is shadow work at the level of the group, the system, and the human tribe, asking us to consider how we share power and respect autonomy.
This year, we are prompted to ask: What does it mean to belong to a community? What might a more inclusive, authentic society look like?
Neptune in Aries: New Beginnings and Refined Ideals
One of the year’s most potent transitions comes as Neptune crosses into Aries on March 30, stirring ideals into action and giving shape to dreams that might otherwise remain abstract. Aries brings a fiery vitality to Neptune’s vision, empowering a generation to step forward with a more grounded spiritual vision. This is the first time Neptune has entered Aries in over a century, signalling a pivotal shift from inner contemplation to courageous outward expression.
Yet Neptune’s return to Pisces in October suggests that we aren’t fully ready to bring these ideals to fruition without some final healing and preparation. We are asked to measure the solidity of these visions, to ensure that our dreams can withstand the rough edges of reality. The push-pull of Neptune between Pisces and Aries may feel disorienting, yet it offers profound clarity about the balance between vision and action. Where do we still need healing before moving forward? How might our personal ideals align with those of the wider world?
Uranus Steps into Gemini: Innovation and Curiosity
Uranus, planet of revolution, makes its first move into Gemini on July 7, marking the beginning of a seven-year cycle of curiosity, invention, and rapid shifts in how we communicate and connect. Uranus in Gemini stirs curiosity, innovation, and a hunger for new ideas, marking the start of an exciting era in communication, technology, and social thought. Gemini’s influence sharpens Uranus’s visionary impulse, urging us to question what we know, explore new forms of knowledge, and explore innovative solutions in areas such as technology, education, and social networks. Gemini Uranus will challenge established beliefs and encourage us to think with greater adaptability and ingenuity.
Yet, as Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus in November, we are reminded to stay grounded, to integrate new ideas without destabilising our foundations. This dance between Taurus and Gemini encourages a steady exploration of radical ideas, one that will continue to shape our collective journey in the coming years.
Growth Through Challenge: The Jupiter-Saturn Square (with added Neptune)
Jupiter enters Cancer on June 9, where its expansive energy finds an emotional depth and protective focus. This transit supports nurturing projects and personal growth that are deeply rooted in connection and care. Cancer’s influence encourages us to foster what sustains us on a fundamental level—our families, our homes, our sense of belonging. Yet, Jupiter’s journey is not without tension. Midyear, it forms a challenging square with Saturn, which will have recently entered Aries (may 24th).
Saturn in Aries brings a cutting-edge realism to this dynamic, insisting that progress be well-considered, not hasty. For individuals, this square calls for a balanced approach to growth—bold yet grounded, expansive yet conscientious. It is a chance to align aspirations with practical reality, a moment to cultivate resilience. Neptune adds a haze of confusion, or perhaps imagination, to the mix as it is close to Saturn in Aries. Be aware that you may not have the full picture of the situation.
The tension builds as Saturn stations in July, before easing as Saturn retrogrades back into Pisces on September 1st. This Saturn/ Jupiter square pits expansion against structure, freedom against discipline. The months of June to August offer us a preview of themes we will return to in 2026 when this aspect recurs (though without the added delusions of Neptune).
Lunar Nodes: Balancing the Pisces-Virgo Axis
With the North Node in Pisces and the South Node in Virgo, the year offers a path toward spiritual surrender, healing, and release from perfectionism. (And seems very on point with The Hermit as the tarot major associated with 2025). This nodal shift invites us to trust in the unknown and to cultivate faith over control.
This energy will be particularly strong around the March 14 and September 7 lunar eclipses, which fall in Virgo and Pisces, respectively. These eclipses serve as powerful checkpoints, encouraging us to explore how humility, compassion, and balance can help us navigate personal and collective challenges. They invite us to examine where we might still be clinging to control and to consider the ways that humility and openness can offer us greater strength than striving in private.
Inner Planet Retrogrades: Reviewing Values, Identity, and Core Beliefs
This year’s retrogrades of Venus and Mercury invite us to turn inward and explore themes of connection, expression, and belief. Venus’s retrograde in Pisces from March to April encourages a reassessment of the ideals we hold in love, creativity, and compassion. This transit offers a profound opportunity to deepen spiritual connections and bring healing to relationships, helping us release lingering wounds and outdated patterns.
Mercury’s retrogrades this year in the fire signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius prompt reflection on our sense of drive and creativity. In the March retrograde, the focus is on self-expression and assertiveness. In July, the retrograde turns our attention to authentic creativity, and November's retrograde, invites us to reconsider the beliefs and truths that shape our lives. All three retrogrades act as gateways to clarify our priorities and communicate with renewed purpose and clarity.
Mars begins the year retrograde in Leo, shifting back into Cancer on 6 January, aligning with the year’s first Full Moon. This phase continues the Mars-Pluto opposition series that began in 2024, with Mars remaining retrograde until late February. In April, Mars returns to Leo, opposing Pluto once more—this time direct—bringing momentum to stalled projects or unresolved tensions from earlier in the year. The themes initiated by these Mars-Pluto dynamics will reach their culmination in early 2026, when Mars and Pluto meet in Aquarius.
2025: Month-by-Month Overview
To support your journey through this liminal year, here’s a monthly guide to help anchor these powerful energies. (I will create more detailed forecasts for each month as we move through the year).
• January – The year begins with a powerful call for shadow work and inner courage. Pluto’s early months in Aquarius initiate themes of collective and technological transformation, while the Mars-Pluto opposition challenges us to face power struggles and step into greater authenticity. With Mars retreating into Cancer issues such as home security and how we show up for our families will be at the forefront.
• February – This looks like an easier month. The Sun and Mercury transit Aquarius, expands our vision for social progress, while Jupiter turns direct in Gemini, opening doors to communication and growth. Mars stations and resumes forward movement in Cancer. This is a month for building connections and broadening perspectives.
• March – The total lunar eclipse in Virgo encourages release of perfectionism and invites healing. Venus and Mercury retrograde ask us to pause and reflect on inner values and ways of self-expression. Neptune enters Aries at the close of this month, sparking a new cycle of idealism alongside the motivation to turn ideas into reality.
• April – As Mars opposes Pluto once more and the solar eclipse in Aries arrives, we face a transformative period, ripe with tension and revelation. This month’s energy is intense, calling for decisive action and a willingness to confront inner and outer limitations. We also have Venus stationing direct in Pisces on the same day as the Libra Full Moon, which is a lovely dreamy distraction from the Mars/ Pluto tension.
• May – Pluto stations retrograde, encouraging introspection and perhaps a review of power struggles (internal and external), while the first Jupiter-Saturn square of the year challenges us to balance aspiration with discipline. With Mars now clear of its retrograde shadow and Saturn in Aries, May is a time to revisit intentions, aligning dreams with practical steps.
• June – Jupiter’s ingress into Cancer enhances themes of home, connection, and emotional nourishment. This is a month to nurture ourselves and those around us, focusing on the security and care that Cancer offers amid ongoing changes.
• July – Uranus enters Gemini, igniting innovation and change, while Mercury’s retrograde in Leo asks us to consider how authentically we express ourselves. Saturn’s retrograde in Aries reminds us to stay grounded and purposeful in our actions.
• August – A powerful grand trine between Uranus, Mars, and Pluto boosts potential for transformation and constructive action. The second Jupiter-Saturn square may reveal where more stability or realism is needed for long-term success.
• September – Saturn returns to Pisces, easing the heavyweight tension of the Jupiter/ Saturn square. The total lunar eclipse in Pisces brings a deepening of compassion and a call to embrace spiritual surrender. This is a month of emotional and creative flow, inviting introspection and a renewed connection to our ideals.
• October – The Mars-Pluto square brings intensity, urging confrontation of suppressed truths. With Neptune retrograding back into Pisces, there’s a reminder to integrate spiritual lessons before pressing forward, though we can press forward now if we are brave enough to do so. A series of grand trines between Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn and Mars offer momentum.
• November – Uranus retrogrades back into Taurus, and Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius and Scorpio adds to the introspective energy, encouraging us to review beliefs, security, and values as we prepare for year-end transitions.
• December – Saturn and Neptune resume direct motion in Pisces, bringing clarity and forward movement in spiritual pursuits and collective vision. December offers an opportunity to integrate the year’s experiences and set intentions for 2026, with a grounded sense of clarity and purpose.
Overall, the energy of 2025 feels charged with a quiet, intense anticipation, like standing on the edge of a portal, with a glimpse of vast new terrain awaiting exploration. Though major cosmic players are shifting signs, many do so only briefly, creating a liminal quality to the year—a sense of both progression and preparation. The presence of the outer planets in new territory, albeit with retrogrades, signifies that we are collectively on the threshold of an era. These planets beckon us to engage in deep self-reflection and shadow work, offering us glimpses of what we are on the cusp of creating.
The invitation for each of us this year is to prepare for what is to come after, engaging in the inner work that will help us face the changes on the horizon.
As we navigate 2025’s profound liminal space, may we find inspiration, resilience, and the courage to dream consciously, stepping boldly toward a future we are only beginning to imagine.
